Frequently Asked Questions
Will annotations survive when sharing the PDF?
Yes. When you click Export PDF, all annotations (highlights, drawings, notes) are baked permanently into the PDF as visual elements using pdf-lib. The resulting PDF displays identically in any PDF viewer — Adobe Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, Edge, mobile apps — without needing any annotation app.
Can the recipient remove the annotations?
Baked annotations are visual elements drawn directly onto the page, just like any other content. They cannot be removed through a standard PDF viewer. If you want tamper-proof annotations, also protect the PDF with a password after annotating.
What annotation tools are available?
Highlight (translucent coloured rectangle — drag over text), Strikeout (strikethrough line), Freehand Draw (pen tool for circles, arrows, custom marks), Text Note (click to place a sticky note with custom text), Eraser (click any annotation to remove it).
I'm annotating a multi-page PDF — does it show all pages?
Yes, all pages are loaded and displayed. Scroll down to annotate different pages. Each page has its own annotation canvas. Annotations are tracked per-page and all are exported together in the final PDF.
