Frequently Asked Questions
What PDF metadata fields can I edit?
You can edit: Title (shown in browser tabs and document viewers), Author (the document's attributed author), Subject (a summary or topic description), Keywords (comma-separated terms for document indexing), and Creator (the creating application name). All fields are standard PDF InfoDict entries.
Will editing metadata change the visual content of the PDF?
No. Metadata fields are stored in the PDF InfoDict and XMP stream — separate from the page content. Changing them does not affect any text, images, layout, or formatting visible in the PDF. The document looks identical before and after.
Can I remove all metadata instead of editing it?
Yes. Use the PDF Remove Metadata tool to wipe all metadata fields at once. The metadata editor is for selectively setting specific fields; the remover is for cleaning the document entirely before distribution.
