Frequently Asked Questions

What is the PDF Workbench?
The PDF Workbench is a visual pipeline builder. You upload one or many PDF files, then build a sequence of operations (stages). For example: Compress → Add Page Numbers → Watermark → Protect with Password. Click Run Pipeline and all files are processed through every stage in order. Download results individually or as a single ZIP archive.
How many files and stages can I chain?
There is no hard limit. The workbench processes up to 4 files simultaneously (in parallel) and each file runs through every stage sequentially. In practice, browser memory limits apply — most modern devices handle 20–50 PDFs at once without issues. Stage count is unlimited.
What happens if one stage fails?
If a stage fails for a specific file, that file is marked as errored and processing stops for that file only. Other files in the batch continue processing. The error message is shown next to the file. Common causes: the file is password-protected, a corrupt PDF, or an invalid setting (e.g., protecting with an empty password).
Can I save a pipeline and reuse it?
Pipeline saving (presets) is on the roadmap. Currently, you define the pipeline once per session. For repeated workflows, the Workbench stages can be set up in about 30 seconds.
