Animation Detox
Strip AI-Added Animations from PowerPoint

Copilot, Gamma, and Beautiful.ai generate decks packed with Morph transitions, Spin entrance effects, and Float In sequences that look polished in the tool preview — then lag in Zoom screen shares, corrupt in PDF export, and break entirely in Keynote and LibreOffice. This tool strips every single animation and transition in one pass, producing a static, click-through deck that works reliably on every platform, every time.

Animation Detox — How it works

  1. 1

    Load and scan every slide

Opens the PPTX ZIP and reads every ppt/slides/slideN.xml file. Checks for <p:timing> (click animations) and <p:transition> (slide transitions) elements.

  2. 2

    Remove timing trees

The entire <p:timing>...</p:timing> element is removed. This block stores the full animation sequence — entrance and exit effects, emphasis effects, motion paths, timing delays, and repeat counts. Removing it makes every slide instantly display without any click-sequencing.

  3. 3

    Remove slide transitions

<p:transition> elements (both self-closing and wrapped forms) are removed from every slide. This eliminates Morph, Fade, Push, Wipe, Reveal, Zoom, and all other transition effects. Slides advance with a clean, instant cut.

What gets removed

<p:timing>

All entrance, emphasis, exit effects and motion paths

<p:transition>

Morph, Fade, Push, Wipe, Zoom, Reveal, and all other slide transitions

Timing delays

After-previous, with-previous, and timed sequences

Repeat loops

Any animation set to loop or repeat indefinitely

Motion paths

Animated objects flying across the slide

Click sequences

Multi-click build animations (bullet points appearing one-by-one)

When to use this

  • Before sending an AI-generated deck (Copilot, Gamma, Beautiful.ai) for in-person presentation — AI tools are known for overusing Morph and complex timing.
  • Before converting to PDF — animation data can confuse PDF exporters and produce blank or reordered slides.
  • For archiving — static decks are version-stable and open correctly in any viewer (Apple Keynote, LibreOffice, Google Slides, PDF readers).
  • When a colleague complains the deck "freezes" during screen-share — complex animations often lag or corrupt in video conferencing tools.

Who uses Animation Detox

💼

Management Consultants

AI-generated client decks arrive with dense Morph transitions that lag during boardroom screen shares. Strip them before every delivery.

🎬

Video Producers

Recording a PowerPoint walkthrough video? Animations desync from your narration. Remove them first for a clean, frame-accurate recording.

Analysts & Finance Teams

PDFs of animated decks reorder slides or produce blank pages. Detox first, export second — every time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I remove all animations from a PowerPoint file?

Drop your .pptx into DeckMedic's Animation Detox. It opens the PPTX ZIP in your browser, scans every slide XML for p:timing elements (click-based animation sequences — Entrance, Exit, Emphasis, Motion Path effects) and p:transition elements (Morph, Fade, Push, Wipe, Zoom transitions), removes them entirely, and rebuilds the file. No PowerPoint installation required. Everything runs locally in your browser via Web Worker.

What are the p:timing and p:transition XML elements?

In the OOXML format, p:timing is the XML tree that stores all click-based animation sequences for a slide — Entrance effects (Fly In, Float Up, Spin), Emphasis effects (Pulse, Grow/Shrink), Exit effects, and Motion Paths. p:transition controls the visual effect when advancing from one slide to the next: Fade, Push, Wipe, Morph, Zoom, Reveal, and others. Animation Detox removes both completely, producing a static deck where every slide displays instantly without sequencing.

Why should I remove animations from an AI-generated deck?

AI deck builders like Microsoft Copilot, Gamma.app, and Beautiful.ai add dense Morph transitions and complex multi-step animation sequences by default. These look impressive in tool previews but cause serious problems in production: lag and rendering issues during live Zoom or Teams screen shares, out-of-sync timing in recorded video exports, blank slides or reordered content in PDF conversion, and incompatibility in Keynote, Google Slides, and LibreOffice. A static deck is universally compatible and fully predictable — the right choice for client delivery, board materials, and archiving.

Does removing animations change the slide content?

No. Animation Detox only deletes the p:timing and p:transition metadata blocks. All text, images, shapes, charts, tables, speaker notes, and layout are completely untouched. Every slide looks identical — objects are simply displayed instantly rather than animated into view on click.

Is this tool safe to use with confidential presentations?

Yes. Everything runs entirely in your browser using a Web Worker and JSZip. Your PPTX file is never transmitted to any server, never stored, and is immediately discarded when you close the tab. There are no analytics on file content. This makes it safe for board presentations, client NDA deliverables, and confidential internal decks.
