Smallpdf and iLovePDF are general-purpose PDF converters that include basic PPTX handling. DeckMedic is purpose-built for PPTX internal surgery — it reads and rewrites the Open XML structure inside the file. For example, Ghost Layout Exorcist removes unused Slide Masters (the real cause of 50 MB bloat), PII Scrubber redacts speaker note emails, and Excel Link Surgeon repairs broken OLE data connections. Generic converters cannot do any of these operations.
