LinkedIn Carousel
Squarify for Document Posts

Marketers repurposing slide decks for LinkedIn hit a wall: 16:9 decks look tiny in the mobile feed. This tool modifies p:sldSz in ppt/presentation.xml — changing both cx and cy to 9144000 EMU (10-inch square). Then you export the PDF from PowerPoint — which guarantees pixel-perfect font rendering — and post it to LinkedIn as a document.

📖 How it works · EMU dimensions · LinkedIn specs · Design tips

How the dimension change works

The tool opens ppt/presentation.xml and uses a regex to locate the <p:sldSz self-closing tag. It replaces the existing cx and cy attribute values with 9144000:

Before:

<p:sldSz cx="12192000" cy="6858000" type="screen16x9"/>

After:

<p:sldSz cx="9144000" cy="9144000" type="screen16x9"/>

All slide content — shapes, images, text boxes, charts — retains its absolute position in EMU coordinates. No content is moved or deleted.

4:3 Standard 9144000 6858000 Older compatibility format

Design tips for square carousel slides

  • Use large text (28pt minimum). Reading happens quickly as people scroll — small text is ignored.
  • One point per slide. LinkedIn carousels perform best with 8–15 slides of single punchy statements.
  • Keep content in the center 80% of the canvas. After squarifying a 16:9 deck, content near the left/right edges may extend beyond the square boundary — review in PowerPoint before exporting.
  • The first page is the cover — make it a compelling hook. LinkedIn shows only the cover in the feed; viewers swipe after reading it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this for Instagram carousel posts too?

Yes. Instagram carousels also perform best in square (1:1) format. The same Square PPTX workflow applies — export to PDF in PowerPoint, then convert individual PDF pages to JPEG using a tool like Adobe Acrobat, Canva, or pdf2img. Instagram requires individual image files per slide rather than a single PDF document.

What if I want 4:3 format instead of 1:1 square?

Use cy="6858000" instead of cy="9144000" in the p:sldSz tag. You can manually open the downloaded PPTX in PowerPoint → Design → Slide Size → Custom Slide Size to change dimensions to any format before exporting.
